Nature-Based Solutions
What are nature-based solutions? These are actions to protect, sustainably manage, and restore natural or modified ecosystems in a way that balances human well-being with biodiversity benefits and climate action. Building tall with wood is a perfect example. As a natural, sustainably sourced, and renewable building material — one that not only stores carbon but reduces pollution during construction and requires less energy to heat and cool long term — mass timber construction can help us build more sustainable communities, creating the kind of carbon storage we need to meet our net-zero goals while addressing issues like housing supply in urban centres.
