Canadian pulp and paper mills now produce enough green energy to power all of the houses in the Vancouver Metropolitan Area.

·

Since 1990, pulp and paper mills have cut their greenhouse gas emissions by about 67%.

·

There are approximately 1,400 Indigenous-owned businesses in Canada’s forest sector. These firms typically employ 10 to 30 people and many of these businesses earn revenues of more than $1 million a year

·

The sector is guided by consumer preferences and global market demand for “green” products that are sustainable and climate friendly. Through science and innovation, products such as cosmetics, clothing, car parts and clean energy are all produced from wood fiber.

Canada’s forest products sector follows an adaptive management framework, ensuring that new knowledge is continually incorporated into forest management to actively manage our forest resources in a sustainable and effective manner to help support species at risk.
